- Blue light in the evening (especially the light from ‘modern’ LEDs) has an extremely negative effect on our nervous system
- At dusk, the blue artificial light tricks the brain into thinking it is the wrong time of day. This interrupts the sleep cycle and has a negative effect on health over a longer period of time.
- Yellow or (better) orange lenses that block blue artificial light can help you protect your sleep cycle and improve your sleep quality.
Blue light filter glasses - recommended by Biohacker No. 1: Dave Asprey
"The glasses are like noise cancelling headphones for your eyes, you can feel your brain relax… I have doubled my deep sleep."

Our blue light filter glasses bring back this naturalness to the eyes. They ensure that the intensity of blue light is reduced and the colour spectrum is balanced. TrueDark glasses, from the forge of Dave Asprey, are highly effective for natural vision. We stock a variety of styles... the red ones for the evening hours, the yellow ones for daytime and the clear lens glasses for screen and office work.

Blue light filter glasses - for better sleep quality
Blue light filter glasses help you with this,
- Getting tired more quickly in the evening
- sleep better through the night
- Get up fitter in the morning
Nature knows the colours red, blue and yellow. The proportions increase or decrease depending on the time of day. In the evening, the proportion of red increases. But indoors, under artificial light, there is no red component, the red light is missing and therefore also the signal for the brain that the body should now produce melatonin so that we become tired.
Our modern LED lamps primarily emit blue light. Televisions, smartphones and laptops also primarily emit blue light. However, our eyes and brain are not designed to process so much blue light. Processing this overdose of blue light costs us a lot of energy. In the long term, this leads to a variety of complaints such as headaches, short-sightedness, tiredness and poor sleep.
In nature, there is a balance between the colours red, blue and yellow. In the evening hours, red light increases and blue light decreases in nature. If you sit at home in the evening in artificial light, the red light is missing. However, this gives the brain the signal that evening has come and the body should now produce melatonin.
Do blue light filter glasses help?
Certainly! The blue light filter glasses ensure that the intensity of the blue light is reduced and the colour spectrum is balanced again.
FAQ - Blue light filter goggles
- As a general rule, the darker/redder the lenses, the more blue light is filtered out.
- You should put your glasses on at dusk (sunset) - unless you are going to bed and are still surrounded by artificial light.
- If the light outside is not relevant for you, we recommend that you wear your glasses approx. 3 hours before going to bed until you go to sleep.
- Clear or transparent blue light filter glasses only filter out a very small amount of blue light. Perhaps 5-10%. More would also be counterproductive, as they should be used especially when working at a computer.
- These glasses are primarily designed to prevent headaches, tension and dry eyes.
- No, but as an alternative we have practical ‘fitovers’ for spectacle wearers - i.e. glasses that you put on over your prescription glasses.
- In short... the less blue light, the more reddish light, the better.
- Candlelight or the light of the Hymalaja salt crystal lamp are ideal and healthy light sources for better sleep quality.
