How The Shift Works
The Shift slows down your exhalation – activating your parasympathetic nervous system. The result: your heart rate drops, blood pressure regulates, muscles relax, stress hormones decrease. All from just one conscious breath.
Find Calm in 5 Steps
- Recognize the stressful moment – and see it as temporary.
- Inhale deeply through your nose into your belly for 3–4 seconds.
- Pause briefly (1 second).
- Exhale gently through The Shift – no force needed.
- Repeat the process at least 5 times.

The Story Behind
Invented by Todd and Vanessa Steinberg, who suffered from chronic stress, The Shift is based on ancient Zen philosophy. The idea came through a straw. The breakthrough came at an art market – with a Shakuhachi flute. From this, the first wearable breathing aid was born, merging Eastern wisdom with modern psychology.
